Visa Types for International Students
According to the related regulations, international students coming to study in China should apply for an X1 visa (for a study period of more than 180 days), or an X2 visa (for a study period of less than 180 days).
Without the correct student visa, students will not be able to enter or to register at IWHR.
X1 Visa:
X1 Visa is issued to those undertaking long-term study in Mainland China (more than 180 days).
Students holding an X1 visa must apply for a residence permit within 30 days after entry, otherwise it constitutes illegal residence.
X2 Visa:
X2 Visa is issued to international students who will study for no more than 180 days.
The validity period of X2 visa is indicated on the visa page.
Kind Reminder:
1. International students studying in China must possess passports with either visa for study (X1 or X2 type).
2. International students entering China with other types of visas may not be able to apply for student's visa or residence permit, and therefore may not be accepted for enrollment. In this case, all the consequences shall be beared by the student in person.
3. If the visa or residence permit got expired and the student still didn't apply for a extenstion, such kind of acts have broken the law and your stay in China will be counted as illegal. Students will receive possibly warning, detention or even deported. The fines will apply as well (¥500/day). If you have those records in file, you will be automatically disqualified for the scholarship application.
